Chapter 68

On the stage, Yvette, the honor student from the Music Department of Creston University, was giving

her graduation speech with her father by her side

Overwhelmed by the memories of their four years in college, they were both on the verge of tears.

“Man, Yvette’s dad looks so young! And so handsome!”

“Yvette is the most beautiful girl in our Creston University, no wonder with those good genes from her

parents!

“Wow, Yvette’s dad just said he’s going to donate three pianos to the music department! He’s loaded”

Im so jealous of Yvette’s life! She comes from a wealthy family, her parents adore her, she’s pretty, and

she’s academically excellent tool

With her vanity fully stoked from all the compliments and envy pouring in from her classinates, Yvette

stepped down from the podium with her head held high

Backstage, she spotted Ellinor, waiting for her turn to take the stage.

By tradition, the last to go on stage was usually the most important person.

Yvette wasn’t thrilled about this, but she didn’t dare to protest as it was the principal’s decision.

She decided to approach Ellinor and feigned surprise, ‘Ellinor, you came all by yourself today?”

Ellinor nodded, “Yep”

Yvette put on a sympathetic face, “I heard from some classmates that you’re an illegitimate child who

was sent to live in the countryside. You had to work really hard to get into the city for school! It must’ve

been really tough for you, being sent away at such a young age! Poor thing! I guess that’s why you

work so hard, because you don’t have parents to depend on! Luckily, I don’t have to work as hard as

you do, my parents love me and they give me everything I want!”

Ellinor smiled, “Really? So you plan to rely on your parents after graduation?”

Yvette choked on her words, looking upset, “Ellinor, I was just trying to show some concern, but you

just have to be so prickly! Well, my dad was right, people who are pitiable often have despicable

qualities!”

Hearing her name called by the emcee, Ellinor left Yvette on the spot and walks onto the stage

She thanked her alma mater and her teachers, reminisced about her college life, and talked about how

she has grown…

The young woman on the stage, makeup–free, exudes calmness and confidence. Her humorous

graduation speech was quite infectious, making the audience laugh and cry

at the same time.

Not like those melodramatic speeches from the previous speakers, which only moved themselves.

Whispers began among the crowd….

“Ellinor sure lives up to her reputation as the top student, I really like her graduation speech!”

“Speaking of which, Ellinor is also one of the most beautiful girls in our school, albeit with a less

privileged background compared to Yvette!”

“Real talk, Ellinor from the Math Department is the true genius here, and she’s even prettier than

Yvette!”

“Even if she’s pretty and talented, isn’t she still just an illegitimate child? Did you guys notice? She

came alone today, no parents to accompany her!”

“I heard she was born to her dad and his mistress! Like father like daughter, I bet she’s no angel in

private!”

Yvette, who had returned to her seat among the students, feigned compassion and nudged her friend,

“Oh my, you guys, don’t be so harsh. Ellinor’s already pitiful enough. Even if she did something

‘desperate, it’s all for survival, right?”

Her face showed sympathy, but inside, she was feeling pretty smug

Before college, Yvette was always the center of attention. But since she became classmates with

Ellinor, she’s always been overshadowed by the top student!

Now, she’s finally found something that Ellinor couldn’t beat her at – family background and social

status!

Ellinor could never match up to her on these two points!

As Ellinor’s speech continued, the auditorium suddenly went eerily quiet…

After a few minutes of silence, the students started whispering again…

“Did you see that? The man who just walked on stage is so handsome!”

“Oh my god! Who is that? I’ve never seen a man so handsome in real life!”
