Chapter 49

He stood up nonchalantly and remarked, “I can give you a ride.”

Curious, Estelle inquired, “What about your driver?”

Jonathan had already made his way to the hallway, but upon hearing her question, he paused, turned

back, and clarified, “Coincidentally, I’m headed in that direction,”

Estelle smiled lightly. “Thank you!”

As the car drove away from the Lamont family, Jonathan asked softly, “Are you getting used to living

there?”

“Yep, it’s pretty good.” Estelle nodded, thought for a moment and asked, “I’d like to change the white

sheets in the bedroom to a different color, is that okay?”

Jonathan replied, “Of course, that house is entirely yours while you live there, you can decorate it

however you’d like.”

Estelle said thanks, and added, “We can split the cleaning lady’s salary.”

After she moved in, she learned that the cleaning lady would come every other day at 3pm to clean.

Jonathan spoke indifferently, “No need, I’d have to hire a cleaner even if you weren’t there. Let’s just

consider this a perk of renting the place.”

Estelle arched an eyebrow, feeling a sense of triumph as if she had secured a favorable deal.

True to his word, Jonathan offered her a ride home, stopping at the grand Royal Mansion before swiftly

driving, away without any intention of accompanying her inside.

Estelle went home, ordered a few sets of bedding online, looked around, and bought a sofa chair like

the one in the villa, as well as a bookshelf.

She spent most of her afternoon practicing cooking.

The week passed by swiftly.

This Saturday marked Old Mrs. Copeland’s 80th birthday, and Estelle went to the Lamont family early,

she planned to visit after giving Henson a lesson.

The Copeland family held the banquet in their three-story villa at Willow Way. By 9pm, the villa’s

parking lot was filled with luxury cars, and the front hall was packed.

In order to make the guests happy, the second floor of the villa was arranged for the birthday hall,

where people could go to visit Mrs. Copeland; the first floor was set up as a western-style banquet hall,

suitable for dancing and having fun.

The Macclain family also received an invitation, and Simone took Carmella along, wearing the jewelry

set Carmella had given her for her birthday.

They first went upstairs to pay their respects to Mrs. Copeland, who was eighty, her hair white and her

spirits high. Expecting praise, Carmella didn’t disappoint.

All of the Copeland family’s sons and daughters-in-law had gathered, attentively observing Carmella

and discreetly comparing her to the other socialites who had recently arrived. They were in the process

of selecting potential future daughters-in-law.

Simone wore a modest smile, holding Carmella’s hand and laughed, “Carmella is indeed promising.

She has been exceptional since her childhood. Next month, her paintings will be showcased in an art

gallery, and you can visit to see them at that time.

The first daughter-in-law of the Copeland family asked, “Who did Carmella study with?”

Simone proudly replied, “Albert Mullins!”

Immediately, praises for Carmella rang out,

“How amazing!”

“Mr. Mullins was the proud disciple of the oil painting master, Old Mr. Quintin!”

“Ms. Macclain has a bright future ahead of her!”

Simone became more pleased with herself, while Carmella laughed modestly, acting sophisticated and

polite,

like a socialite.

As the conversation continued, more guests joined the gathering. Simone, eager to showcase

Carmella, escorted her to the nearby ladies’ group, introducing her to a wider circle of people.

Wherever Simone and Carmella went, the praises for Carmella seemed to follow. However, Mrs.

Robert, harboring disdain for Simone, couldn’t resist making a sneering remark. “This is supposed to

be Old Mrs. Copeland’s birthday party, not a celebration for her daughter!” she sneered.

Another lady, Mrs. Page, had her eyes on the diamond necklace around Simone’s neck, “That’s one of

GK. Jewelry Studio’s spring designs from a couple of months ago. I’ve always liked it, but never saw it

in their store. Turns out Mrs. Macclain bought it.”

Her gaze shifted, and she gently pulled Mrs. Robert along, heading towards the cluster of ladies where

stood.

Everyone was praising Carmella, and Mrs. Page joined in before directing the conversation to the

necklace, “Mrs. Macclain, is your necklace part of GK Jewelry Studio’s latest collection?”

As she mentioned it, everyone looked at Simone’s neck and was amazed.

Simone’s pride only grew, and she casually brushed her curls, pretending to be indifferent, “Yes, it’s

part of the same set as my earrings. It was my birthday gift from Carmella last month.
