Chapter 15

Calvin grumbled the moment they were alone.

Thankfully, the man released his collar almost immediately. Otherwise, they would probably end up on

the front page of society news.

But Calvin knew better than to run back to the beautiful young lady without appeasing the jealous king.

“Bryan, I don’t care how much you like me, but why did you do that? I’m so embarrassed! Anyway, Finley

and I are fated for each other. I’d appreciate it if you did not come between true love.”

Bryan’s gloomy face darkened and he sneered, “True love?”

Calvin declared confidently, “Yes. Don’t worry, I’ll invite you to the wed-”

Before Calvin finished speaking, a hard punch landed on his stomach.

“Ow!”

Calvin held his stomach and complained noisily, “What the h*II! Bryan! Is this how you treat your good

friend? I’ve blocked so many women for you, why can’t you let me have a shot at love with the amazing

Fin-”

Unable to stand another word out of Calvin’s mouth about his supposed relationship with Finley, Bryan

snapped, “She is my wife.”

Even though they were in a contract marriage and he had rejected her the night before, seeing another

man hit on his wife set his teeth on edge. When Finley had smiled at the b*stard, he almost punched the

man there and then.

Still lost in his daydream, Calvin was confused.

“Huh? Who? You’re married? What does that have to do with-”

Seeing the glare on Bryan’s usually expressionless face, a lightbulb clicked on in Calvin’s head.

“No! Seriously? The goddess is your wife?”

Calvin deflated like a balloon, “How? When did this happen? How come I didn’t know?”

Bryan felt better when he saw Calvin’s dejected expression and did not bother clarifying anything. “Just

stay away from her.”

Calvin frowned, why did the beautiful woman say that he and Bryan were lovers then?

He opened his mouth to ask but snapped it shut after a moment. A punch was painful enough.

He was not brave or stupid enough to ask such an intrusive question.

He cleared his throat and then chuckled dryly, “Congratulations on your marriage. I just remembered that

I have an event early tomorrow morning… Bye!”

Then as if the king of hell was on his heels, Calvin turned and ran away.

When the two men were out of sight, Finley sighed.

“It is no wonder Bryan is not interested in my beauty, Calvin is just too handsome… What am I going

to do now?

Thankfully, someone approached her with a toast and she shoved that dilemma away.

When Bryan came back into the hall, he saw Finley surrounded once more by a crowd of people. With a

terse order, a guard quickly went over to the woman and whispered in her ear.

Finley arched her brow and tilted her head to look at the gloomy-looking man on the sofa. She excused

herself and made her way over, snatching a glass of champagne on the way.

The moment she sat down, Finley said, “So that was your little lover. I can see why you would abandon

the whole garden for him. Even I would be tempted by his beauty…”

Bryan narrowed his eyes at Finley, “Do you lack men?”

What’s wrong with this man?

Why so pissed off?

Finley opened her mouth to answer but Bryan cut her off.

“Did you forget your identity, hm?”

Thinking that Bryan was upset because she spoke to his lover, she glared, “Calvin approached me first.”

“Just stay away from him in the future.”

Livid at being painted as the mistress in a relationship she did not even know existed, Finley exploded,

“First of all, your little lover came to me, not the other way around. Secondly, if you don’t want to see me,

just say so and I’ll leave. You don’t need to drag me over and glare at me like that.” Then she stormed

off, her back straight and proud. She would not show how his words had momentarily sent a stab of pain

through her chest.

What an utterly stupid decision it was to marry Bryan Turner.

At this rate, she could kiss her inheritance goodbye.

Bryan’s jaw clenched as the woman walked away without looking back. She did not even care that: she

left without taking the valuable trophy. For a moment, Bryan wondered if he was too harsh on her.

“Sir…”

“What?”

Harry gulped, “Someone has been sniffing around your medical records. They’ve found out that you’ve

been visiting ENT specialists for treatment. They were watching you closely today and are sure that you

have lost your sense of smell.”

“Where are they?” Bryn asked tersely.

“They’ve been dealt with, Sir. And we have suppressed the news. But there’s always the risk of

exposure.”

Bryan fisted his hands as Harry continued, “The best way to turn this into a mere rumor is to treat you.

Perhaps Mrs. Turner…”

“Her perfume only works temporarily.”

Harry sighed, it was too bad. But not all was lost.

“Sir, there is some good news. We heard rumors that the miracle doctor has appeared in the capital.”

It was said that the Miracle Doctor was given the nickname because he or she saved an important

Head of State from the jaws of death when all other doctors had given up.

However, after that feat of greatness, no one had seen even a shadow of the doctor. The only proof the

person existed was the currently hale and hearty Head of State.

There were rumors that the miracle doctor was moody and would only see patients when the mood

struck.

“We have news that the miracle doctor will be meeting Dr. Nina Evans in Central Hospital soon.” Bryan

nodded, “Keep an eye on that doctor and the hospital.”

“Yes, Sir!”

The next day, at six o’clock in the afternoon, a figure wearing a mask, a cap, and dressed head-to-toe in

black walked into Dr. Nina Evan’s office.

The multiple pairs of eyes tracked the person’s movements and a call immediately went out.
