Chapter 6 “The Miller family hasn't reached the point for you to leave with nothing,” Jersaid in response to Mikayla’s puzzled expression.

“I'll have Mike draft a new agreement to provide you with scompensation.” “No need,” Mikayla refused. “I didn’t marry you for your money.” She didn’t lack money. Besides the shares her grandfather had left her, she could earn on her own.

She insisted on marrying Jerbecause she was blinded by love.

Jersaid firmly, “I don’t care what you want. But to keep things good for both of us, the divorce paper will be changed the way | want it.” Mikayla thought he was probably concerned that people would hear he left his ex-wife with nothing, consequently hurting his reputation.

Mikayla gave up arguing. “Fine, it’s up to you. See you at City Hall tomorrow.” After saying this, Mikayla walked out and resumed packing her things.

Outside the door, Jerfrowned once again.

He wondered if Mikayla really called him just to talk about the divorce.

Once the matter was discussed, she promptly closed the door without saying much.

It was so different from when she used to talk a lot around him and ask him to go for walks together. On top of that, she used to like finding various reasons to be around when he was handling work affairs.

He wouldn't be so opposed to coming hif she could remain quiet and trouble-free like this.

Regardless of Mikayla’s motives, as long as she truly agreed to the divorce tomorrow, it would be one less headache for him.

“Jerome, | want to go pay respects to Grandpa. It’s just for a day! | swear | won't disrupt your wedding to Kylie! If you don’t believe me, | can prove it now!” Milaula Chapter 6.

chance to harm Kylie!” Under Jerome's cold and disdainful gaze, she felt as if a dagger had pierced her heart. Warm blood oozed from her body, gradually losing its warmth.

Mikayla let out a scream and jolted upright from the bed.

Looking at the surroundings that were both unfamiliar and yet strangely familiar, she breathed a sigh of relief.

It had been a few days since her rebirth, yet she still constantly dreamed of her past life. The anguish and hopelessness preceding her death were still too overwhelming to shake off.

No matter what, she didn’t want to relive those days.

With that thought, Mikayla got out of bed, freshened herself, and headed to the City Hall.

et 9:00- It wasn’t and the City Hall wasn’t open. Jerhadn't arrived either.

Outside City Hall, numerous young couples waited eagerly to get married.

Watching them so joyfully embarking on their journey, Mikayla couldn't help but reminisce about the twhen she and Jerobtained their marriage certificate.

Filled with excitement and thrill, she eagerly joined the early morning queue that day.

Her joy was unaffected, even as Jerarrived around noon, wearing a cold expression. Jerwas late.

She believed she was entering the realm of blissful matrimony from that day onward. Little did she know, that was the beginning of her tragic life.

Jersat in the car, calmly looking straight ahead. He never believed that Mikayla would divorce him. After all, he had witnessed Mikayla’s endless schemes.

To avoid being fooled, he had people check the surroundings and Mikayla’s activities in the past few days. The reports verified that both City Hall and Mikayla were in a normal state.

A fleeting, disconcerting thought crossed Jerome’s mind as he caught a glimpse of Mikayla’s self-deprecating and slightly bitter expression. But it vanished in an instant.

The thing he hated most was someone attempting to control or threaten him, and Mikayla managed both. She had only herself to blfor the divorce.

As City Hall opened for business hours, Mikayla lowered her head, sent a message, and then walked in.

Jerreceived a text on his phone. It read, “I'm here. Cover.” He took the printed divorce agreement from Mike and got out of the car.

“Mr. Miller.” Mikayla heard the polite greeting from the staff as soon as she sat down. Surprisingly, Jerome, who had been late for their marriage, was punctual for the divorce.

Mikayla raised her head, and indeed, Jerhad arrived.

Adorned in a dark purple pinstripe shirt, he displayed refined facial features and a remarkable temperament under the faint glow of the overhead spotlight, resembling an unblemished deity.

Even though Mikayla had given up on him, she couldn't deny the perfection in Jerome’s appearance. Her past infatuation with him was, to sextent, driven by his looks.

“Seen enough?” Jerfrowned.

He thought she might have changed, yet she continued to stare at him so openly.

Mikayla calmly said, “You brought the agreement, right? Give it to me, and I'll sign.” Jerome's frown deepened. He tossed the agreement to her.

The staff was waiting outside. Mikayla casually perused the agreement after she caught it. Jerwas offering her ten million dollars as alimony.

Although it was a drop in the bucket compared to Jerome's wealth, it was pretty generous considering their forced marriage and his strong dislike for her.

“After the divorce, mind your own business. If you make a big deal out of this, don’t blme for not showing mercy,” Jerwarned.
